[Music] [Jake Maguire] so we spent you know four years on our first campaign trying to accelerate the spread of good ideas across communities and a few years into our current campaign Built for Zero I think one of the things we heard from communities was we need better and more effective opportunities to learn from each other. We were I think operationally identifying as well kind of an over-reliance on one-on-one coaching and the kind of resource demand that put on our team and we were sort of looking for models that would allow the tremendous peer network we had built across the country to be the kind of key driver of learning and change instead of you know things being so dependent on our team. And that's when we found the breakthrough collaborative series which is really designed of course to solve those problems and has been iterated and improved to solve those problems. So two of our team members went to the BTS training and IHI they came back and they said this is something we need to do you know and it may not fit exactly. We may want to adapt key pieces but there's room for that. But you know this group has learned a lot of the things that we need to learn to be successful. So about a year ago in 2016 we launched we're kind of relaunched Built for Zero as a collaborative with 70 communities participating as have teams in the collaborative and we'll scale up to somewhere between 100 and 120 teams by the end of this year. So it's taken off in our organization what has been exciting is to see how adaptable the collaborative model is communities are really really excited the chance to learn from each other and spend more time with each other. Our coaches have reduced demand on their time so we sort of right-sized their interventions with the amount of time they have to deliver them and I think that's been really helpful. Today we're in a place where 80% of the community we work with can tell you today exactly how many people are experiencing homelessness on their streets what their names are and what they need and then they've started to use that information to test change ideas with the goal of driving reductions. 22 communities are reducing now month-over-month and 10 communities have ended veteran or chronic homelessness of the first ten committees in the country to do that it's pretty exciting [Music]
